Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 13, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the AdQuiet Chrome extension handles information. AdQuiet is designed to reduce video ad interruptions on YouTube desktop watch pages while minimizing data processing.

Short version: AdQuiet processes relevant YouTube page and player signals locally. It stores extension settings, aggregate counts, timestamps, and a small set of privacy-safe diagnostic events in Chrome's local extension storage. AdQuiet does not sell or transmit personal user data.

1. Information AdQuiet processes

To provide its core feature, AdQuiet locally reads and responds to website content and in-player ad signals on YouTube pages. This processing occurs inside your browser and is used only to detect and reduce ad interruptions.

AdQuiet stores the following information locally using chrome.storage.local:

2. Information AdQuiet does not collect

AdQuiet does not store or transmit video titles, full page URLs, Google or YouTube account information, full player-response bodies, authentication information, payment information, health information, location data, personal communications, or browsing history.

AdQuiet does not use information to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes. It does not sell user data, transfer user data to data brokers, serve personalized advertising, or allow humans to read user data.

3. Permissions and why they are used

storage

Stores the enabled setting, aggregate counts, timestamps, and limited diagnostic events locally on your device.

scripting

Allows AdQuiet to run its filtering logic on supported YouTube pages when required.

Host access: https://www.youtube.com/*

Allows AdQuiet to detect in-player ad signals and operate on YouTube desktop pages. AdQuiet does not request access to unrelated websites.

4. Data sharing and network transmission

AdQuiet does not send locally processed or stored extension data to the developer or to third parties. If you choose an external support or feedback link, your browser opens that third-party service only after your action. AdQuiet does not automatically transmit extension data with that action.

5. Retention and deletion

Local extension data remains in Chrome extension storage until you clear the extension's stored data or uninstall AdQuiet. Uninstalling the extension normally removes its locally stored extension data according to Chrome's behavior.

6. Chrome Web Store Limited Use disclosure

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

7. Children's privacy

AdQuiet is not designed to collect personal information from children or from any other users.

8. Changes to this policy

If AdQuiet's information-handling practices materially change, this page will be updated and the “Last updated” date will be revised.

9. Contact

For privacy questions, use the AdQuiet Support page or contact the developer on X.

AdQuiet is an independent extension and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube or Google.
